Hiding in the Backyard

I love hiding from Vicki & Paul in the backyard. Here is me hiding. You can't see me here in this excellent hiding spot - can you? I watch the birds that come and feed in the trees and use the bird bath from this hiding spot. They are always too quick for me.

View from the Balcony

We have a fantastic balcony out the back door. I like to sit on the railing and survey my kingdom. This is where we spend most of summer, cooking BBQs and enjoying the sunshine. We are saying goodbye to good weather. The weekend saw a real turn and the wind came up and the nip has started in the air. I will spend the next few months chasing all the leaves around the yard that will fall from the trees. I love Autumn time (not so hot).

Sundays

How good are Sundays? I am lazing around with Paul who is watching the Moto GP in Japan. I think lying like this fixes Pauls sore head from too much partying yesterday.

Enjoy your Sunday!

Anzac Day

I love Anzac Day. For those of you who want to learn more about what Anzac Day is, click here:

Anzac Day Information

The Dawn Service, the Last Post, even the games of Two-Up (and you know I love my gambling)...it all brings a tear to my eye...

Here is me after celebrating Anzac Day a bit too hard with Paul.

I hope you all had a good ANZAC Day and remember those diggers who died for our Country.

Listen to the Last Post here
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Lest we Forget

Where are they?

I have been greeting Vicki & Paul every night this week hoping that H & X were with them - it has been so quiet here. I look behind Vicki & Paul and there are no extra people getting out of the car. I have searched every room, looked under the beds...I even let out an almighty wail tonight in the middle of the kitchen to say, "Come out kids, I can't find you! I give up trying to find you!!!"

Do you think they are playing hide & go seek with me????

Here are some pictures of me on the bed that H was using. I have slept here every night hoping that she would come back.....

Until next time...

Peace at Last...

Finally, I have the house and the servants to myself again. Although I really enjoyed having extra bodies warming my beds, and it was hard to choose who to sleep with at night (I chose the house guests over my servants), I am pleased to have my space back again.

I love my routine and I have spent a lot of time training my servants to behave in certain ways, the house guests just didn't get it.

H & X loved having me around - but they just wouldn't leave me alone! Don't they understand that a conquoring Royal needs to be left to their routine????

Here are some photos of me graciously posing with X.

Champagne

Saturday night was a night to remember - we celebrated Kat's birthday (H & X Mum) with a wonderful bottle of French Champagne. I got my usual 2 fingerlicks. I can't understand why I don't get a glass of my own like everyone else!

Morning Routine

This morning I allowed H to sleep in my bed while I had a little catnap. She patted me gracefully and I even let out a little purr. How gracious of me to allow H to have my bed for the duration of her stay. She feels very privileged.

I have got X trained to complete my morning routine with a little leisurely jog out to the laundry where they pamper me with my favourite dry food mix - whiskers and science diet and one other mix I can't quite work out...I hope my servants have not been scrimping on my food shopping and subsituted a no-name brand - they know I won't eat that stuff!!!

School Holidays House Guests....

Vicki and Paul are hosting H & X for a week over the school holidays. I am well used to them now as this happens at least one week a year and occasional other weekend visits. When H & X first used to visit me they were much younger and very excitable. I used to have to run away from them as they were far too enthusiastic with me but as they have matured I have trained them into wonderful house guests. They now sit quietly and pat me as required.

Here is a photo of me with H.

My new indoor friend

Our next door neighbour looks after injured possums as part of the WIRES network.

For more information on WIRES click here

Every now and then she tells Vicki to keep me inside while she is repatriating a possum back to the wild. It is so frustrating for me because I can hear them outside and I just want to go and play.

One night, Vicki was cooking dinner and the manhole cover fell in the hallway. Vicki was quite scared as she did not know why it had fallen. She pointed it out to Paul who put it back and remarked how strange it was it had fallen by itself. We all had dinner and retired to the loungeroom for our nightly sit on the lounge while Paul and Vicki watch the noisy screen on the wall. I can never understand their attraction to this noisy contraption - apparently called the television! I knew it was a night that they would be busy with their adult cartoons - South Park and Drawn Together.

Sometimes I like to go and check in the bedrooms and sleep under the central heating vents. I did so on this particular night and to my delight, I found a new indoor play toy! It looked just like the possums that I see outside! Now I know that anything that is in the house is part of the family and I am not allowed to hurt it so I just played with this possum in the bedrooms - we ran from room to room. It was so much fun. At one stage I could hear Vicki and Paul yelling from the lounge room to stop running around and no amount of performing would allow me to go outside. I didn't need to go outside - I had all the fun I needed inside.

Finally Paul came out to the kitchen to make a cup of tea for Vicki. He spoilt all my fun and asked Vicki to come and grab me while...for reasons unknown...Paul opened the back door to allow my new indoor playmate to run outside! Paul told Vicki that the possum must have been in the ceiling and fell into the house when the manhole cover dropped.

Apparently, when Vicki went down to check the bedrooms, all the side tables were empty, lamps were knocked over and according to her, "It looked as though a bomb had hit it!". But what price fun?

Occasionally I still see my indoor playmate around in the yard. Paul has named him Perry.

Full Moons

Don't you love a full moon? With the full moon in the sky this weekend I know I will be having lots of fun out and about. Vicki & Paul tease me when I won't come in and ask where I have been all night. They think I have been out with the boys and playing poker but if only they knew where I really was..... yes, that's right, chasing leaves and shadows...

Here is a picture of me yawning and pretending I am off to bed when really I am planning to sneak out and cavort in the wonderful light of the full moon...hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Safety Cat

Here I am being a Safe Cat. Vicki & Paul thought it would be a good idea to put a safety vest on me for when I went out at night. Needless to say I ditched the unfashionable orange vest as soon as I could and buried it where it would never be found again........

The Turducken....

I have just found out where Vicki & Paul went for Sunday lunch. Apparently it was Pauls birthday and his nephew Liam was back from London for a visit so the family put on a traditional Sunday Roast. All week I had been hearing about "The Turducken". It had me fascinated what they were talking about. Well I have finally found out. A "Turducken" is a Turkey, stuffed by a Duck, stuffed by a Chicken....YUMMY! Why wasn't this cooked at my house? Vicki knows I luurrrvvveee Turkey and...Duck and...Chicken (oh, what a hard choice!). I would have loved the smells wafting from the kitchen while that was cooking... Imagine the miaows I would have made! And to think, they didn't even bring me leftovers. I may not talk to them for a while.....
